Joe-Dieter is a Red Sox Fan
(and during "Soxtober" Joe went "OFF" his diet AGAIN !!)
The Red Sox once again got back in the playoffs and Joe Dieter, a loyal member of Red Sox Nation, followed every pitch. That means he ate plenty of party food or "ball park cuisine", stayed up late most nights, and grabbed on the go fast foods the next morning and while at work to try to "re-energize" from lack of sleep.
Listed above are Joe Dieters's Stats. You may remember Joe from other videos on this site. He's the guy that visited a commercial weight loss center to try to lose weight and make a better impression at his high school reunion. The problem is, as it plays out in the video, he only got fatter. If you missed the video of how this happened I've included it at the end of this page.
Joe went back "OFF" his diet during the playoffs because he "couldn't possibly be "ON" his diet program while he has to keep up with the Sox". Joe simply didn't have the willpower, he admitted, to eat well during "Soxtober".
Here's a snapshot of a typical day of Joe's nutrition during "Soxtober":

Are you eating like Joe? Here's what his nutrition report card looks like when analyzed with My-Nutrition-Coach online meal planner.
As you can see from the results to the right he is getting "F" letter grades in 6 of 11 vital nutrition categories just for weight management and heart health alone.
Joe normally would consume approximately 3,000 calories per day in what he describes as "large meals". In "Soxtober", however, his ave. calorie increased to 3600-4000 per day due to Sox parties and late night eating during the games.
Bottom Line:
"Soxtober" turned out to be the equivalent of a several month long cruise for Joe. His "Soxtober" diet helped him gain a pound a week of body fat or just about 8 pounds by the end of the World Series.
Here's why:
Joe's body needs approximately 3,000 Kcal per day to maintain his current weight and activity level (see Joe's Stats above).
The 500 extra calories Joe easily consumed in Sept-Oct had him gaining about a pound a week (500 x 7 = 3500= 1 pound of added bodyfat per week).
Consider now that Joe is already over "fat" by looking at his body fat level. If you remember from the video he wanted to lose weight prior to "Soxtober" to begin with.
His actual Kcal needs to lose weight were around 2500 Kcal per day so he is easily consuming 1,000 extra calories each day!!
(So much for the high school reunions for years to come at this "Soxtober" pace...)
But it only gets worse. As you'll see from watching the video Joe is reminded of the need to drop this weight again. He just heard a commercial on the sports radio channel with Dan Marino pitching a commercial weight loss program geared for men. It said he could diet and eat real "man food" like "pizza, pasta and even pot roast" and still lose weight. Joe is tempted to try the commercial weight loss program for a second time around...
